US Navy strike group leaves North Korea peninsula after heightened WW3 tensions

The strike group, described by Donald as his “armada”, is said to have left the peninsula on Wednesday night as planned.

The USS Carl Vinson had been conducting military drills with South Korea’s Navy after tensions with North Korea almost hit crisis point.

The strike group arrived in East Sea in late April as a warning to Kim Jong-un over his repeated war provocations.

Initially no end date had been set for the military drills, which was part of the US's reassurance of its “ironclad security commitment" to South Korea and Japan.

The group’s departure comes as aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, based in Japan, resumed its full operation after months of maintenance.
