Cameron Payne resigned as co-CEO of the new SmartMLS formed from the merger this summer of his Wallingford-based Connecticut Multiple Listing Service with its counterpart Greater Fairfield County CMLS in Norwalk.

In a press release issued by SmartMLS, Payne cited a desire to “pursue other opportunities” after the creation of a nearly statewide MLS service. SmartMLS will be led going forward by Kathy Elson, who had shared co-CEO duties with Payne after previously leading the Greater Fairfield County CMLS.

SmartMLS functions as a central repository for residential real estate listing information, and as an industry training coordinator among other functions.
