Multiple sources suggest the Blanchardstown shopping centre was evacuated after a man was spotted inside armed with a rifle.
Images from the scene show a large police presence and a number of onlookers stood outside the entrance.
Armed police officers, known as garda in Ireland, were on hand and shoppers were not allowed inside for several hours while police tried to take control of the situation.
A garda spokesperson said they could confirm a number of gardaí [police officers] were at the scene, but declined to comment on the nature of the incident “for operational reasons”.
