Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is reportedly 'desperate' to sign a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield past the end of this season.
The Egyptian has become one of Liverpool's greatest ever players during his seven-year stay at the club.
However, his contract expires this summer, and he acknowledged after their 3-0 victory over bitter rivals Manchester United that this could be his final year at the club.
The Liverpool Echo though have reported that Salah is 'now thinking only of extending' his stay at the club, and is 'desperate to remain' at Anfield.
This comes despite interest from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Ittihad in particular keen to sign Salah in the summer of 2023.
The report claims though that the 'declining reputation' of former team-mate Sadio Mane is one reason why Salah is against a move to the Saudi Pro League.
One source reportedly told the Echo that Salah 'doesn't want to be like Sadio in Saudi Arabia even if it means more money'.
Mane initially left Liverpool for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, though only lasted one year with the Bundesliga giants.
The Senegal international has scored 19 goals in 54 appearances for Al-Nassr, where he is partnered by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Though the move has worked out for Mane financially and with improved performances on his disappointing stay at Bayern Munich, it has kept Mane out of the spotlight compared to his days winning trophies at Liverpool.
Another reason why Salah is reportedly keen on staying at Liverpool is his family who are settled where they are.
Salah and his wife Magi have two daughters - Makka, born in 2014, and Kayan, born in 2020.
The Egyptian captain set up two goals and scored one in Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Man United.
After the game he said: 'I was coming to the game and I said, 'look, it could be the last time (at Old Trafford)'.
'Nobody from the club has talked to me yet about contracts. It's not up to me, it's up to the club but we will see.
'As you know, it's my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it. I don't want to think about it (the contract). I feel I'm free to play football and we'll see what's going to happen next year.'
Salah's contract isn't the only big talking point at Liverpool, with both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the final year of their deals.
