A team of Manchester United legends, managed by former captain Bryan Robson, will return to Old Trafford on Saturday.

They will face a Celtic side managed by Paul Lambert, in a match that will raise money for the Manchester United foundation.

The team includes some members of United's Treble-winning side in 1999, as well as stars who enjoyed success under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2000s and early 2010s.

There are also a few players who went on to have long careers, despite not playing for the Red Devils on many occasions.

Mail Sport takes a look at the Manchester United players who will take part in Saturday's match to see where they are now.

Wayne Rooney

Manchester United's all-time leading goalscorer has been around the block in terms of his managerial career since his playing days came to an end.

Rooney's spell at Birmingham City last season lasted just 83 days, after he also had previous stints at Derby County and MLS side DC United.

During his time off he joined EA Sports FC Pro Club Girth N Turf - founded by YouTubers Angry Ginge and Yung Filly.

He left those who watched their videos surprised by calling the first of the two founders a 'ginger ****' in a light-hearted jab.

After doing punditry duties during Euro 2024, he returned to management with Championship side Plymouth - who sit inside the relegation zone after their opening four games.

Michael Carrick

While Rooney has had a tough start to life in management, his former team-mate Carrick has shown signs of encouragement with Middlesbrough.

He joined the club in October 2022 when they were 21st in the Championship, and guided them to the play-offs in fourth.

Last season was a tougher one for Carrick as they finished eighth in the league, while this campaign they are seventh after the opening four games.

His side, though, look like they will be in for another season where they battle to make the play-offs and end their eight-year stint outside the Premier League.

Antonio Valencia

The former full-back, who retired from football in 2021, founded his own team - Club Deportivo Tumbaco AV25 in his native Ecuador a year later.

He runs the club with his brother, Eder, and the team wears a red kit in honour of Valencia's boyhood side Club Deportivo El Nacional and the Red Devils.

After its launch he said: 'For me, creating a soccer team is saving lives.

'It's motivating kids to practice sports and stay away from vices.'

Paul Scholes

The midfielder was Manchester United's quiet legend of Sir Alex Ferguson's era at Old Trafford, so not many would have expected him to become the opinionated pundit that he is today.

He has a no-nonsense style of punditry and regularly appears on TNT Sports.

Scholes also is not shy on social media, and has criticised the likes of Declan Rice and Ian Wright in Instagram stories.

He suggested Rice should 'think forward and take less touches' while he hit out at Arsenal legends such as Wright for suggesting Bukayo Saka should play at left-back for England.

Scholes also had two brief stints in management, holding a position at Oldham for 31 days in 2019, and was interim boss at Salford City for less than a month in 2020.

Dimitar Berbatov

The Bulgarian striker who once scored a hat-trick for the Red Devils against Liverpool has kept a relatively low profile since his 2019 retirement.

Berbatov occasionally speaks to the media about the latest events at Manchester United and was involved in the last legends game at Old Trafford against Liverpool in 2022.

The 43-year-old last year revealed ambitions of reshaping the football landscape in his native Bulgaria.

He told CNN: 'Bulgarian football is in major crisis. My team – Stiliyan Petrov, Martin Petrov, all former football players – decided that we need to change something back home. And we started to fight for that change.'

Jesper Blomqvist

Blomqvist is an often forgotten member of Manchester United's Treble-winning side of 1999.

But it was his time spent playing in Italy for AC Milan and Parma that sparked a successful second career.

It was there that he developed a passion for making food and today he owns a pizza restaurant in Stockholm.

Earlier this year he announced on Instagram that his restaurant had placed 25th in a list of Europe's top 50 pizza restaurants.

He also won the Swedish edition of Celebrity Masterchef.

Karel Poborsky

Poborsky is a legend in his native Czechia, where he has a shirt retired at boyhood club Dynamo Ceske Budejovice and is the country's second all-time appearance holder with 118 caps - only behind Petr Cech.

These days he can be seen covering the Premier League on Canal+ Sports in his native country.

He was pitchside for United's 3-0 defeat to Liverpool where he was seen mixing with the likes of former team-mate Paul Scholes.

Back in 2016, he was put into a medically-induced coma after contracting a brain infection that left the muscles in his face paralysed, with a hypersensitivity to light.

He would make a full recovery but told the Guardian in 2019 that if he went to hospital one day later than he did, he might not be here today.

Denis Irwin

The former Republic of Ireland international works as a presenter on Manchester United's official club channel MUTV.

He has also written newspaper columns and contributed to RTE's coverage of several major football tournaments.

It was reported by The Mirror that his promotions company accumulated profits of around £1.5m last year.

He owns DJI Promotions Limited - a UK-based company that handles revenue from his media work - and is a director of the firm along with his wife Jacqueline.

Wes Brown

The former Manchester United defender went from earning £50,000-a-week to losing millions and going bankrupt after his divorce from his glamorous reality TV star wife.

He spent 25 years with Real Housewives of Cheshire cast member Leanne Brown, but she left him a year before he declared bankruptcy.

Earlier this year, he opened up on how he plunged into financial turmoil after a series of bad investments and blamed a lack of the 'right people' around him.

He told the Ben Heath Podcast: 'I think the main thing is - when you are making a lot of money, you need the right people, don't you? And I would say that's one of the things I didn't have.

Wes Brown went bankrupt not long after his divorce from ex-wife Leanne (pictured together in 2009)

'It's a long story and I won't go into the detail, but it's stuff that happened a long time ago with certain investments and getting into stuff that as a young kid, a lot of people go into - don't really understand it.

'It's what a lot of people are doing and then it came to a head last year, and that's how it went.'

HMRC filed a bankruptcy petition against him in February last year and the petition was rubber-stamped out the High Court later.

A source previously told Mail Sport: 'It may seem like Wes was earning big money - to most people he was - but the trouble was he was also trying to keep up with the lifestyle of team-mates earning five or six times more than he was.

'Most of his money disappeared in bad property deals. He overpaid on the farm that Leanne lives in.

'He spent something like £6million or £7million to buy that. They have tried to sell it but haven't managed to, even after lowering the price to £4.75million.

Ronny Johnsen

The 1999 Treble winner has pursued a career in coaching and recently earned his UEFA Pro License.

Among his course mates were Joey Barton, ex-Man City player Antoine Sibierski and former Newcastle player Steve Watson.

He has also represented Manchester United at a number of events and was one of several former players seen shaking players' hands before their recent Community Shield defeat to local rivals Man City.

Mikael Silvestre

The former French defender launched his own company, backed by esports organisation Galaxy Racer, back in 2021.

Silvestre launched TalentLyfe - an agency to represent athletes and young talents in sports.

Prior to this he was head of football at a London-based firm which represented the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Richarlison, Phillipe Coutinho and Willian.

Silvestre is also occasionally seen doing punditry work for the likes of beIN Sports.

Darren Fletcher

The one former United player on this list who still has an active role at the club.

He has held a number of roles behind the scenes at Old Trafford since October 2020.

That list includes as an U16 coach, a first-team coach, and technical director - the latter role he was replaced by Jason Wilcox back in April.

Ahead of the charity game, he has been listed as a current first-team coach of the Red Devils.

Phil Bardsley

Bardsley is part of the legends side after making eight appearances between 2003 and 2008.

He spent another 15 years in football playing for the likes of Sunderland, Stoke City and Burnley.

Bardsley retired after making just two appearances at Stockport County between December 2022 and June 2023.

His move to Stockport saw him donate the entirety of his salary to the club's community trust.

He is also married to Real Housewives of Cheshire member Tanya Bardsley.

Danny Webber

Webber is one player on the list who didn't actually make a Premier League appearance for United's senior team during his time at Old Trafford.

He is perhaps best known for his stints at Watford and Sheffield United, and would go on to retire in 2014.

Webber has worked as a pundit for MUTV, Sky Sports and BBC, and is the CEO of Autograph Sports Management.

The company specialising in player representation works with youngsters including Ipswich star Leif Davis.

Danny Simpson

A member of Leicester's title-winning squad in 2016, Simpson has recently ventured into the world of boxing.

Simpson put his Premier League winner's medal on the line when he fought Danny Aarons at a Misfits Boxing event in Dublin on August 31.

He was at a slight disadvantage in that he only started training for the fight five weeks before, compared to Aarons who had been training closer to six months.

The Essex-born streamer also appeared to have the crowd support and both men had their moments in the fight which ultimately ended in a draw.

Simpson was visibly disappointed after the fight and later said that he thought he had 'nicked it'.

Simpson recalled: 'At the time, I was probably enjoying myself in the summer a bit much. But now, in the last three or four weeks, this has been fun. Mams Taylor rang me and asked me, do I think I could do this in four or five weeks? And I love challenges.'

Anders Lindegaard

The Danish goalkeeper, who made 19 appearances for the Red Devils between 2010 and 2015 has appeared to enjoy the quiet life since retirement.

Not much is known about what he has done since he hung up the boots in November 2022, though on Instagram he appears to be enjoying time with his family.

He was previously married to Real Housewives of Cheshire star Misse Beqiri before they split in 2016, and he later married his new model wife Sofie Bording.
