A Hollywood movie producer was divorcing his wife and seeking custody of their children when she jumped to her death from a hotel balcony.

Isabelle Thomas, 39, was found lying by the pool area of the Hotel Angeleno in Los Angeles on January 29.

The English heiress shared twin daughters Poppy and Grace, both three, with Oscar-nominated producer Bradley Thomas who she married in 2018.

However, court papers have now revealed that four months prior to her death the famed producer had asked for a divorce - citing 'irreconcilable differences' and asking for legal and physical custody of the twins.

Friends of the mother-of-two have claimed that she suffered from mental health issues prior to her death, but despite this her family said they were baffled as to why she killed herself.

In the months before her death, she was treated at a psychological facility and despite her husband filing for divorce the day after her 39th birthday, their relationship had seemingly not broken down and they still attended red carpet events together as late as January 2024.

Legal documents uncovered show that Bradley employed famed divorce attorney Lance S Spiegel, who had represented Michael Jackson, Charlie Sheen and Brad Pitt.

Isabelle was served on September 15 2023 and given 30 days to file a response, while the action prevented her from taking the children out of the state.

She then failed to attend a hearing on December 13 and Bradley did request 'additional time to serve Respondent and file Proof of Service of Summons' at the hearing, and the case was placed on hold.

The manner of death was listed as suicide by the LA County Coroner's Office, citing multiple traumatic injuries.

On February 1, three days after his wife's death, attorneys for Bradley filed a request to dismiss the divorce case without prejudice.

Born in the Cotswolds as Isabelle Lawrence, her father was Sir Henry Lawrence, 7th Baronet of Lucknow - a senior physicist at Cheltenham General Hospital, who then became the head of the radiotherapy unit at Bristol Oncology Centre.

She enjoyed a privileged childhood which saw her attend the private King Edward's School and Prior Park College in Bath.

She went on to attend Oxford University, graduating with a degree in biological sciences.

Her career that followed included addressing the United Nation and The World Bank, as well as being appointed by former British prime minister David Cameron to serve as a tech advisor.

Thomas also loved to party, and moonlighted as a DJ, with photos uploaded to an old Facebook profile showing her enjoying nights out at glitzy London events.

As well as being a DJ whose gigs including Ibiza Rocks and the official after-party for the Grammy Awards, she was a well-known social scene face - with friends including musician James Blake and his presenter girlfriend Jameela Jamil.

Thomas was also photographed with Amy Winehouse at a 2010 charity event in Camden, London, where the tragic singer lived.

She also delivered addresses at the United Nations and the World Bank and was a member of WISE (Women In Science and Engineering).

Her prowess landed her a board member position at The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and she became a judge for tech events including The Festival of Code (UK), The Lovie Awards (UK) and iStrategy (The Hague).

It was around this time that she met technology journalist Mike Butcher, who became friends with Izzy before she turned to the glitz and glam of Hollywood.

Remembering his late friend, Butcher told MailOnline: 'She was whip-smart, with a dazzling personality.

'She moved in tech circles as easily as hitting the red carpet during fashion week.

'As well as being a model, she could talk to you about neuroscience and the latest tech news. Her passing hit her former tech friends pretty badly.'

In April 2014, she was featured in a Los Angeles Times article about young tech entrepreneurs and influencers using a private plane company to fly to Coachella.

She was described as a 'DJ-slash-model-slash-BBC-TV-presenter-slash-Oxford-grad', who had just renewed her visa to stay in the United States.

Isabelle moved to California to continue her work as a consultant and producer and was appointed to be a member of The UCLA Centre of Storytellers and Scholars Advisory Board.

By 2018 she had met Bradley and the couple tied the knot that year at a star-studded wedding.

On April 5, 2020, Izzy gave birth to twin daughters Poppy Rose and Grace. They were just three when she died.

Izzy and her husband lived with their children in a $3.8million three-bedroom villa in Santa Monica that was close to the beach and just a 20-minute drive from the hotel where she passed away.
