Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult sent About A Boy fans wild as they reunited 22 years after the hit romantic-comedy came out.

In the cult classic, Hugh plays Will Freeman, a rich, carefree man who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a 12-year-old boy named Marcus (Nicholas) after they meet at a single parents' meeting.

More than two decades on, the Love Actually star, 64, and his former costar, 34, recreated an adorable scene from the beloved 2002 adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel.

Hugh shared a snap of them laughing outside in Los Angeles in their tuxedos, with Nicholas patting his friend's shoulder as the actor appeared to crack a joke.

They appeared to have captured the heartwarming moment outside the The Ray Dolby Ballroom after attending the 15th annual Governors Awards on Sunday night.

Hugh posted the sweet shot alongside a still from the film showing Hugh's character frowning as Nicholas' character laughed at him.

The Bridget Jones's Diary star shared the post on X, formerly Twitter, prompting hundreds of fans to flood the comments with their praise.

"A beautiful film. Both of you should be proud. You could now play in the film as a family. Father son?' one fan suggested.

'Great film... he's all grown up... and you haven't changed. Is there a painting up in your attic somewhere?' another joked.

'You’ve both got even better with age. That guitar scene at the school talent show was absolute genius,' a third penned.

Another user added, 'IF ONLY RACHEL WEISZ WAS THERE :(.'

Rachel played Hugh's character's love interest, Rachel, in the much-loved Christmas film.

In About A Boy, Will, who attends single parent meetings to woo women, meets Marcus, a troubled boy who is bullied in school.

He is the son of Fiona (Toni Colette), a depressed woman who has attempted suicide.

As Will and Marcus become friends, Will learns to be responsible for the youngster while helping him with his studies and his love life.

Nicholas was only 11 at the time of filming and has since gone on to star in Hollywood blockbusters like Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and the upcoming horror Nosferatu.

The Skins star previously revealed he and Hugh hadn't stayed in touch much after the film.

'I was only a kid when I worked with him, but he was so hard-working and diligent – neurotic, almost,' he told The Guardian in 2021.

'I can remember him being very specific about beats on the set, and trying things and getting it right. I think you have to be.'

He added that he has been admiring Hugh's success from afar, revealing: 'In my head, I’m thinking it’s a kind of Hughnaissance, or something.

'I had so much fun watching him in Paddington 2, he was wonderful, and then in A Very English Scandal, and I’m about to start watching The Undoing. I’m enjoying what he’s doing at the moment, a lot.'

Nicholas was even accused of copying Hugh’s acting style when playing Emperor Peter II in the Channel 4 period drama, The Great.

The actor insisted he didn't 'purposefully do that' but called it a 'compliment'.

About A Boy, which was directed by Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Hugh and Toni Collette were nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award, respectively, for their performances.

The film became an instant classic, earning £103million when it was released.
