Fuming Liverpool supporters have labelled the club's owners as 'embarrassing' and 'unforgivable' after Mohamed Salah revealed he hasn't been approached over a new contract.

The Egyptian is a legend at Anfield having starred as one of the world's best players across seven years at the club, playing an integral role in winning the Premier League and Champions League along with several other major honours.

Salah has started this season on fire under new manager Arne Slot, scoring 12 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions, but has thrown his future on Merseyside up into the air.

Liverpool came from behind to claim a 3-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday and extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points with Salah the hero on the south coast.

The 32-year-old scored twice with his 83rd minute penalty winning the match at the death to send travelling Liverpool fans into raptures, with Salah revealing after the match that he could leave the club at the end of the season.

Salah's existing contract expires next year with the forward yet to renew terms on his deal that runs out in June and is keen to resolve his future as soon as possible.

Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group have remained silent on extending Salah's stay at the club and are now facing furious criticism from supporters following the star striker's revelation.

Speaking after sealing victory on Sunday, Salah said: 'We are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club. I'm probably more out than in.

'You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future.

'I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans' hands.'

Reacting to Salah's announcement, Liverpool fans turned to social media to vent their criticism, with one supporter slamming the club, stating: 'We’re in the position where Mo Salah, arguably our greatest ever player and the best in the world right now, is out of contract in 7 months and is having to speak to the media about how disappointed he is. If he doesn’t extend, it will be completely unforgivable.'

Another similarly added: 'If we don’t give Mohamed Salah what he wants, then we have to do everything possible to boycott the owners and drive them out. This is the biggest mistake FSG can ever make.'

More angry fans joined in the debate and called on FSG to sell the club to new owners, adding: 'Run it. FSGOut. Never back the managers when they need it most, never want to keep the best of the best players, always come up with an excuse for the nonsense they apply to this club.

'Embarrassing, enough is enough. Liverpool FC has outgrown FSG, get out.'

Should Liverpool and Salah fail to come to a solution then European clubs will be able to agree a contract with the winger in January ahead of a free summer move.

A host of top European sides are likely to be interested in the prolific goalscorer and some Liverpool supporters believe his future is a matter of money, with one post adding: 'The best player in the league will be able to sign a pre contract with another team in less than 2 months from now just because FSG don't want to spend money.'
