Molly-Mae Hague has denied her split from Tommy Fury was a 'publicity stunt', admitting it would have been easier if the 'painful' accusations were true.

The influencer, 25, faced a backlash from fans after she and ex-fiancé Tommy were filmed sharing a passionate kiss on New Year's Eve ahead of the launch of her three-part Prime Video series, with doubters claiming their breakup was staged.

But Molly has opened up on the 'turmoil' of enduring their separation on a public scale, saying the demise of their five-year romance was 'very, very real.'

The former Love Island star admits the couple are now working through their problems following Tommy's shock confession that he became 'addicted to alcohol.'

Molly, who shares two-year-old daughter Bambi with the boxer, said her biggest 'frustration' was having their August breakup questioned by skeptics when there was a lot more happening behind the scenes.

Speaking at The Londoner Hotel on Thursday ahead of the release of Behind It All, Molly said: 'I actually say in the documentary that I wish it was a publicity stunt because it would have been a lot easier... That for me above everything has been the most frustrating part.

'Because going through all of this with the turmoil of a breakup has been incredibly hard.

'To have those comments and I do see the comments, I see all of them, and people saying 'this has obviously just been done for the launch of her brand or a publicity stunt' that is very painful to read because it's real life.

'Tommy and I have a baby together and it's very, very real. It's a really hard thing that we have both gone through the past six months.

'I wish it was a publicity stunt because it would have been a lot easier, but it isn't, and I think this documentary will clear up any questions of that.

'You see the real side to it; it's like you're a fly on the wall and I think people will be quite surprised by how honest we have been.'

After the exes were seen kissing at a New Year's Eve party, Tommy has also been pictured leaving Molly's Cheshire home early in the morning, sparking reports the pair have rekindled their relationship.

And Molly admits they are attempting to 'navigate' a 'complicated' situation while putting first the needs of their young child.

She said: 'We are navigating a really complicated time in both our lives in the public eye. This is a whole new territory for me. I have never really had to... Tommy and mine's relationship has been in the public eye always but to deal with this breakup with millions of eyes watching you it is hard, and it is complicated.

The couple's kiss will be addressed in Molly's series, as she hopes delving into the intimate details of her life will help to dispel any further doubts
There have been hard times Molly has resisted sharing with her large following out of respect to Tommy, who she fell for on Love Island in 2019

'The reason why I don't comment on it or speak about it on my YouTube or publicly is because simply we are both navigating it ourselves, we are figuring it out as adults and as parents.'

Molly confirmed the couple's kiss, which happened at Manchester United star Luke Shaw's Hogmanay party in Cheshire, will be addressed in her series, as she hopes delving into the intimate details of her life will help to dispel any further doubts.

She continued: 'We are doing the best we can, but I really do think the documentary is going to answer a lot of questions. We touch on that situation you'll see a little snippet in the trailer...

'The last thing I ever want is any confusion, I don't want people to feel confused by things that were going on. We try to explain things the best we can. When I agreed to do this documentary, I said I am doing it fully, the highs, the lows, the good days, the bad days, it's all got to be in there.'

Indeed, there have been hard times Molly has resisted sharing with her large following out of respect to Tommy, who she fell for on Love Island in 2019.

On Wednesday, Tommy admitted to becoming dependant on alcohol following a boxing injury, resulting in the drastic decline of his mental health.

Speaking to Men's Health, he said: 'The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol and I couldn't be the partner that I wanted to be anymore.'

'It kills me to say it but it's true, I couldn't. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink, and it is what it is. People go through difficult things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I've got mine to bear.'

For the past six months, Molly has been followed by a camera crew who have captured every moment of her life.

The star has been filmed during her most vulnerable moments as she and Tommy parted ways and throughout the launch of her fashion brand Maebe all while solo parenting daughter Bambi.

And she insists although it plays a major part in the show, Behind It All offers a lot more than capturing her breakup for the small screen.

She said: 'It is definitely so much more than a breakup documentary.

'Obviously, we do talk about the breakup, discuss the breakup and we are very honest in what we share about the breakup.

'But it's so much more than a breakup documentary, it focuses on parts of my life that I haven't delved into before like right now we are still filming but we talk a lot in the following three episodes, we touch on motherhood, body confidence, running my two businesses, and doing all of that while having a two-year-old and navigating it all through a breakup has been a really challenging time.'

Molly-Mae: Behind It All launches with three episodes on Prime Video this Friday and a further three will air in the spring.

The YouTuber, whose vlogs garner millions of views, is already preempting a negative reaction to some scenes and predicts trolls will post harsh comments online.

But it's nothing she hasn't already tolerated before, with Molly saying she is finally ready for her audience to see the woman behind the flawless Instagram posts.

She said: 'Amazon has been putting out little snippets and teasers and I've been reading the comments already.

'I think it's going to be a time for me to have my thick skin, I do have thick skin but already this morning I was looking at some comments and I'm thinking there's a massive mix of opinions already about certain things that have seen.

'I own it, these three episodes are what they are, and I hope people enjoy them.'

  • Molly-Mae: Behind It All eps 1-3 launch exclusively on Prime Video on 17th January. The latter three episodes will drop in Spring 2025
