This Morning descended into chaos on Thursday, after a string of technical issues caused the programme to be momentarily derailed while live on-air.

Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary had brought on Martin Lewis for a Q&A segment to allow viewers at home to ask him for financial advice for their money troubles.

The Money Supermarket Expert founder joined the show from his house via livelink on a TV screen in the studio, but things started to go wrong from the start.

It seemed that a technical mishap had caused Martin not to be centered properly on the screen, before the segment began.

He was quick to check with the hosts, asking: I can't quite see my monitor so I hope I'm in the middle of your screen. We had a little bit of a tech issue - do I look in the middle of the screen?

'Am I in the middle? We'd suffered technical issues earlier and I was not in the middle.'

Dermot and Alison were quick to reassure him, saying: 'You're right in the middle. It's perfect'.

But Dermot then admitted: 'What we don't have however, is any communication whatsoever of who you're going to be speaking to, so if you would...' before trailing off.

As Martin waited looking intrigued, Alison and Dermot both struggled with their tablet, trying to find the callers' messages.

Dermot suddenly piped up: 'We'll be speaking to Eileen', before quickly double-checking: 'Do we have Eileen?'

But Alison informed him: 'Sadly not, no', before trying to help her co-host and take over the tablet.

She said: 'Let's have a look, the phone in... on air... Tina!' but Dermot explained: 'No, that's yesterdays, her sister isn't coming to her wedding.'

The presenting duo continued to both play around on the tablet to no avail, as Alison admitted: 'We haven't got anything on our screen yet.'

Trying to fill the awkward silence and engage in some small talk, she turned to Martin and asked: 'How are you anyway babs? Are you alright Martin, tell us your day.'

But Dermot interrupted her attempt at distraction, determined to sort the segment out as he appealed to the producers to help through his earpiece.

He said: 'Now hang on a second, lads, if people in our ear can just relay it to us... Okay my twin granddaughters live with me and my husband...'

As he listened for the next part, Martin took the opportunity to poke fun at all the chaos, quipping: 'No one is noticing!'

He then sarcastically added: 'It's good, the advantage is this show isn't live, we can edit it afterwards.'
