YouTuber Saffron Barker leaves her Strictly fan grandmother bursting with joy

In true YouTuber style, Saffron Barker has filmed the moment she told her family she was confirmed as a contestant for Strictly Come Dancing.

After informing her stunned father of the happy news, the social media star, 19, was seen hiding her camera to prank her mother into believing she didn't get the gig - before ultimately telling her she had gotten the gig.

In the video uploaded on Thursday shortly after the official announcement, the blonde also left her Strictly super fan grandmother bursting with joy as she sweetly enthused she was 'living her own dream.'

Speaking directly to the camera, Saffron expresses: 'I've never been so nervous or so excited for something in my entire life. This is an absolute dream come true.

'When I got the call that I had actually got, I cried my eyes out,' she continued.

After delighting her parents with the news, she drove over to her grandmother's, who looked equally delighted.

Later Saffron revealed that once her grandmother had got over the shock of the news, she called her in tears every five minutes to further express her delight.

Saffron boasts over two million subscribers on YouTube and follows in the footsteps of fellow social media sensation Joe Sugg, who reached the final last year with his now-girlfriend Dianne Buswell.

Saffron has a reported net worth of $1million from her YouTube content which focuses on a mix of make up, challenge videos and pranks.

Speaking to Heart Radio, Saffron said despite having 1.2million followers on Instagram she's 'scared' of how the public might react to her place on the flagship BBC show.

'I think that's what I'm most nervous for,' she confessed. 'I think that everyone who follows me will support me as much as possible.'

Referring to the backlash Joe received last year Saffron added: 'I think the same sort of thing will happen probably.

'But I think once I get on the show, the public will get to know me as they got to know Joe, because as time went on his personality just shone.'

While she's a social media sensation, Saffron admitted that her dance skills definitely need some work.

'Everyone keeps thinking I'm going to be really good,' she admitted. 'Sorry to disappoint everyone but I don't think I'm going to be. I'd rate myself maybe a four, that's not great.

'If I go out with my friends all of them can really dance, I'm the worst one if we go to a club. I'm there doing the one, two step and a little bit of a click, that's pretty much all I can do, I wish I could twerk or something but no I can't.'

Saffron also spoke about potentially finding love on the show, laughing 'I am very [single], but I haven't even really thought about that.
