After years of being vagrants, renters, and unsettled, New York City FC will finally play in their own stadium.
New York City mayor Eric Adams announced that the city and City Football Group will be building a soccer-specific stadium in the Willets Point neighborhood in the borough of Queens.
Earlier reports said the stadium would seat 25,000 fans and would cost over $780 million - with opening day planned for 2027, nearly 14 years after the club was founded.
The ground will be 100% privately financed by the City Football Group - marking the first purpose built soccer-specific stadium in New York City.
