The mother of an alleged rape victim has given evidence in court  Cricket star Nikhil Chaudhary is accused of raping a woman in Townsville  The alleged victim's mother provided evidence of an early hours phone call 

The mother of the woman allegedly raped by a cricket star has told the court of a phone call she received from her daughter moments after the supposed attack. 

Hobart Hurricanes player Nikhil Chaudhary has been accused of one count of rape after it was alleged he raped a woman in his car after meeting her at a nightclub on the Townsville strip.

Chaudhary has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Crown prosecutor Shannon Sutherland called the mother of the alleged victim to the stand for witness testimony about the evening the alleged offence occurred.

She said she had gone to bed at 11.30pm on the night in question and missed a phone call from her daughter at 3.11am, minutes after the alleged rape occurred.

The court learnt that the mother got in touch with her daughter at 3.53am.

'I couldn't hear much because she was crying, she sounded upset,' the mother said via the Townsville Bulletin.
