A brave mother wielded a can of soup to fend off a man trying to steal her SUV with her two-year-old son inside on Tuesday.
The suspect and another man, 22-year-old Antonio Harper, were driving at speed in a stolen Mercedes-Benz convertible in Daytona Beach, Florida, when suddenly their vehicle collided head-on with a delivery truck.
Fleeing the wreckage, the currently unidentified driver leaped from the vehicle and attempted to carjack the near-by SUV, which was parked outside of a convenience store, in Holly Hill.
In the car was a woman, who declined to identify herself to the media, and her two-year-old son. The woman’s husband was inside the store buying cigarettes.
The crashed Mercedes then caught fire, prompting the husband to search for a fire extinguisher in the store, and the woman attempted to get out of the SUV - parked near the burning wreck - with her son.
