Notorious ex-bikie Shane Bowden has been killed in an execution-style shooting on the Gold Coast

Notorious ex-bikie Shane Bowden has been killed in an execution-style shooting on the Gold Coast.

The 48-year-old was killed in his driveway on Cox Road on Sunday night, his wife and two small children were home at the time of the shooting.

A burnt-out vehicle was later found by police in Mirambeena Drive. A manhunt is now underway for two men believed to be from either The Mongols or The Finks bikie gangs.

Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said it seemed as though Bowden has been ambushed.

'At this point we believe the victim came home from the gym and has driven into his driveway, the assailants have run in and shot him multiple times and consequently now he is deceased,' he told the Courier Mail.

'He's basically driven into his driveway, hasn't gotten out of his car and has been executed.'

The 48-year-old's body was discovered in a car on Cox Road at about 12.10am on Monday
