Two 18-year-old Texas students were killed and two others injured in a horrific rollover crash that happened on Tuesday after the students left their high school graduation rehearsal, officials said.

The victims were identified as Matthew Garcia, 18 and Marcello Saldua, 18, Nueces County Medical Examiner Chief Investigator, Hugo Stimmler told DailyMail.com.

The four students had been traveling back to W.B. Ray High School when the crash occurred, the Corpus Christi Independent School District said.

'Right now we believe that speed and racing are contributing factors to this tragic accident,' Corpus Christi Police Department PIO Senior Officer Travis Pace said in a statement to DailyMail.com.

He  added: 'This is still an active investigation to include interviewing witnesses, accident reconstruction, data collecting and processing.'

Pace said an autopsy is pending.

The two other passengers that were in front of the vehicle were transported to Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi Shoreline.

Johnny Morgan, 18, one of the students that survived the devastating crash and suffered a concussion, was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

His father told KRISTV that his son had been wearing a seatbelt, which saved his life. Since the loss of his friends, he said, in part, his son, is 'taking the news pretty hard,' the news outlet said.

On Tuesday, the students had been at the graduation rehearsal at the American Bank Center in downtown Corpus Christi in preparation for the big day.

Garcia and Saldua were among the hundreds of students that were expected to walk the stage in their cap and gown.

Instead, two chairs will remain empty during the ceremony to honor the high school seniors, who lost their lives too soon, KIIITV reported.
