Channel 4 has been rapped by watchdogs after broadcasting Gordon Ramsay shows littered with swear words during the daytime.

Ofcom received complaints after viewers heard the celebrity chef using the f-word in pre-watershed programmes.

An episode of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA, which was aired on E4 Extra at 4pm on a weekday, included 17 instances of the word 'f***' and its variations.

Nine instances of the word 's***' and five instances of the word 'p***' were also included in the eighth episode of the first season.
