Jeremy Clarkson, 59, is best known for presenting Top Gear with his longtime co-hosts Richard Hammond, 49, and James May, 56, for many years before the trio left the BBC and launched The Grand Tour. However, he is currently enjoying some down time on holiday ahead of the start of season four of the Amazon Prime car show. After the TV star gave his 7.2 million Twitter followers a glimpse of the luxurious chateau he and his family are staying in in France earlier this week, one fan said they spotted him in their town. “So I saw @JeremyClarkson last night in the middle of buttf*** nowhere in my rural ’nightclub’ in France with his wife and kids,” they tweeted. “Mad.”
Former Top Gear favourite Jeremy sounded jovial as he replied, quipping: “I saw you too.”
However, a second Twitter user seemed less impressed with Jeremy’s presence in France, joining in the conversation to say: “The brilliance of Clarkson… have a nice go at the French and then go hiding there.”
The Grand Tour presenter was quick to defend himself, hitting back at the accusation that he was “hiding”.
“Hiding? I’m on a tennis court on holiday,” he replied.
Jeremy showed off his lavish French pad earlier this week as he gave some words of encouragement to those who were disappointed with their A-Level results.
“A Level results a bit rubbish?” he tweeted alongside a picture of the huge chateau.
