The Duchess of Sussex only had her mother Doria Ragland by her side when she married Prince Harry last year and Doria is also the only member of her family to have met baby Archie. Thomas and her half-sister Samantha Markle have spoken to the media many times to beg her to reach out but it appears their attempts have been in vain. She is also not in contact with half-brother Thomas Jnr.
However, according to royal biographer Andrew Morton’s 2018 book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’, Thomas and Meghan were once very close.
Thomas and Doria split up when Meghan was a toddler and divorced five years later.
At first, Meghan lived with her mother and stayed with her father at weekends but as a teenager she lived full time with Thomas while attending Immaculate Heart, a girls’ Catholic School in LA.
Photographer John Dlugokecki, who photographed Meghan and other students throughout high school, said that they only ever saw Meghan with her father.

He told Mr Morton: “We only ever saw her with Tom, never with the mom.”
In fact, Meghan’s peers and teachers did not even know she was mixed race for a while, because they only ever saw Thomas, who is white, not Doria, who is black.
According to a schoolteacher of Meghan’s, her father was generous, modest and appeared to be a single dad trying his best to raise his daughter on his own.
This school teacher, former child actress Gigi Perreau, taught drama and staged multiple shows that Meghan performed in.
