The president spent three nights being treated at the Walter Reed military hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19. During this period Mr Trump was treated with remdesivir, an antiviral medication, which he attributed to his swift recovery, as well as a number of other drugs.
In a video posted on Twitter the president said: “I want everybody to be given the same treatment as your president. Because I feel great, I feel perfect.
“I think this was a blessing from God that I caught it. This was a blessing in disguise.
“I caught it, I heard about this drug, I said let me take it and it was incredible the way it worked.
“I think if I didn’t catch it we’d be looking at that [remdesivir] like a number of other drugs but it really did a fantastic job.

“I want to get for you what I got and I’m going to make it free.”
Studies suggest remdesivir speeds up recovery times, and reduces the death rate, amongst those suffering from serious coronavirus symptoms.
The drug has been approved for use in the US, UK, Japan, India and European Union.
During his video address Mr Trump claimed his symptoms rapidly improved after taking remdesivir.
