The Handmaid’s Tale returned to screens earlier this week and the shocking third episode has fans discussing the fate of June’s daughter Hannah and the concerns over what Gilead is teaching the young girl. Following the surprise drop of the first three instalments, viewers took to Reddit to discuss the storyline so far.
The first three episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale season four returned to streaming platform Hulu on 27 April, 2021.
In the third episode The Crossing, Nick (played by Max Minghella) arranged a reunion of June (Elisabeth Moss) and her first daughter Hannah (Jordana Blake).
The shocking episode saw June being tortured before the meeting took place.

The traumatic meeting left June crying in the arms of her lover Nick, repeating: “My baby was scared of me” over and over.

Nick comforted her the best he could but, the mysterious newly appointed Commander is also a spy, so he conducts himself very differently to everyone else in Gilead.
Minghella’s portrayal revealed very little about Nick’s motives as of yet.
His character also failed to reveal the one responsible for setting up the emotional scene with Hannah.
Discussing the scene online, fans questioned how Hannah did not recognise June, with one fan writing on Reddit: "I wasn't super clear on why Hannah was afraid of June this episode.
