A woman, who claims to have undergone more than 20 cosmetic procedures to transform her prominent teeth and wide nose, has told how she has no regrets.

Airi Hirase, from Ibaraki, Japan, spent tens of thousands over eight years in a bid to enhance her look and 'improve my life'.

Inspired to switch up her appearance after being bullied as a child, the 27-year-old says she has had facial surgeries as well as breast enhancements.

She claimed she was teased by other children over her buck teeth and wide nose and even criticised by her own mother who thought the influencer resembled her absent father who had left the family in debt.

Doctors have long warned Brits contemplating having multiple procedures to radically change their looks to think again.

While some procedures can be combined, complications may include deep vein thrombosis, pneumonia or deadly blood clots.

Ms Hirase, who had her first procedure at 19, said her teenage years left her feeling suicidal and she dreamed of having enough money to transform her appearance.

Her dramatic change has earned her more than a million followers now on Instagram.

She has also appeared in local TV shows and magazines.

Ms Hirase said: 'For eight years from the age of 16, I worked both as a mover and a security guard, working without sleep, being bullied, being pushed off a ladder, working in the middle of summer and not being allowed to drink water, and holding in the urge to vomit.

'But I worked every day, living in a one-room apartment with a rent of 23,000 yen (£120) and eating simple meals before finally saving up 10 million yen (£52,000).

'Because of this experience, I can overcome anything.

'I suffered a lot but I always remained focused and determined to improve my life.'

She claimed she has now spent 26 million yen (£135,000) on facial surgeries and breast enhancements but has not divulged which treatments.

Speaking to local media, she admitted to still occasionally struggling with her self-confidence but felt like she had 'a new identity'.

Ms Hirase said: 'I will never act like my mother. I will give my children a lot of love and care. Now that my outward appearance is different, I feel I can finally forget my past and move on.

'I know that people say that beauty is superficial, but my appearance was always a reminder of the hurt I had gone through in the past.

'Now it is no longer a reminder of those times, I feel like I can think about my future.

'I have a new identity.'

For decades, doctors have warned Brits against choosing to undergo multiple procedures at once and total body overhauls.

According to Adam Searle, a consultant plastic surgeon and former president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), 'there is a real danger attached to having many procedures at once'.

He added: 'This includes a higher risk of infection and longer time to be spent under anaesthetic.

'Fortunately, although people may enjoy the voyeurism of total transformations on television most don't want that for themselves.

'It takes great skill for surgeons to be able to achieve subtle refinements that look natural.'

Medics have also warned Brits contemplating going abroad for cut-price boob jobs, bum lifts and other procedures to think again.

Standards are notoriously laxer than in the NHS and campaigners say aftercare can be non-existent.

An audit by BAAPS last year also found 324 Brits have needed medical treatment or corrective surgery after having cosmetic surgery overseas, with Turkey accounting for the lion's share.

This figure has surged 94 per cent in three years, the organisation claimed, as increasing numbers of Brits seek to look more like their celebrity idols.

BAAPS estimates the average cost to the health service of treating a Brit botched overseas is about £15,000, putting the total bill since 2018 at about £4.8million.

This bill represents the cost of resources like medication and dressings, as well as the time surgeons and other NHS staff must spend on such cases.

While the £15,000 figure is an average, surgeons have previously told this website more serious cases can cost upwards of £100,000 to the taxpayer.
