Fight fans are fuming after undefeated MMA fighter Idris Abdurashidov knocked his opponent unconscious with an illegal head kick during a professional boxing match last weekend.
Astonishing footage has emerged from the bout between Abdurashidov and Iranian professional boxer Bagher Faraji in Phuket, Thailand, on October 20.
The Iranian was reportedly getting the better of Abdurashidov in the bout when late in the fourth round the Russian lashed out with a vicious head kick.
The kick landed on Faraji's chin and neck, knocking him out cold before he fell to the canvas.
Abdurashitov was disqualified for the illegal act, but still gloated about the fight afterwards on social media.
'So he made his debut in professional boxing,' Abdurashidov posted to Instagram (translated from Russian). 'And a lifelong disqualification, I threw out that kick with a machine gun!'
Boxing fans however were disgusted by the illegal move and have called for the Russian to face further sanctions.
'He should be arrested for assault and battery, and banned from doing any combat sports ever again. That is so low,' posted one fan on X.
'He shouldn’t be licensed to fight after doing something like this,' replied another.
'That’s assault. What a douche,' said a third.
'Unsportsmanlike conduct from a person who should not compete. It was a boxing match. Not kickboxing,' replied another.
Abdurashidov will likely cop a lifetime ban from professional boxing. It is not known if the unsavoury act will impact his MMA career.
