Antonin Kinsky has one option: to puff his chest out and go again. But this will sting, make no mistake.

Life comes at you quick. First you're chalking off your first clean sheet in a dream debut against Liverpool.

You follow that up with another shut-out in the FA Cup win over Tamworth on Saturday.

All of a sudden you're being billed as the next Tottenham No 1 for a decade. But then last night happens.

A crash course in the perils of Premier League football for Tottenham's rookie keeper.

His first mistake in English football was a big one.

How the goalkeeper recovers from the error against his side's rivals could define the rest of his Tottenham career

Playing for Tottenham, it doesn't get much bigger than playing against Arsenal.

Making a mistake against Arsenal, that's something entirely different. When your team concede and lose because of your error in an north London derby, well…

Kinsky has suffered that ignominy now. The sight of Leandro Trossard's albeit fiercely struck effort squirming away from his outstretched left palm may cause him nightmares.

How the keeper recovers from that blow could well define the rest of his Tottenham career.

That may sound dramatic and rather reactionary. Perhaps it is.

But you don't get too many opportunities to make blunders like this as a rookie Premier League goalkeeper before the pressure grows.

The good thing (or bad depending on how you look at it) for Kinsky is that he has no alternative other than to get straight back on the horse.

With recognised first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario a long-term absentee, Kinsky will likely keep his place for this weekend's visit to Everton.

The 21-year-old also made a number of errors that would have given Arsenal confidence

You can only imagine what another error may do to his confidence.

The Czech goalkeeper's start to his Spurs career has been so positive that some supporters have predicted that Kinsky will remain as No 1 once Vicario is fully recovered. This was reality check.

But it's one the 21-year-old must consign to back of his mind.

In addition to his fatal error, Kinsky made a number of mistakes in possession that would hardly have filled his team-mates with confidence.

They were sort of dalliances in possession that offer encouragement to the opposing fans too; the ironic cheers emanating from the home crowd whenever Kinsky had the ball at his feet a result of his early aberrations.

The job of a goalkeeper is add serenity to his defence, not chaos.

But with all that said, Kinsky's clear comfort with the ball at his feet is probably his main attraction.

The role of a goalkeeper is multi-faceted nowadays. Keeping the ball out of the net remains fundamental, but ability in possession is high on the remit.

The game's changed and Spurs appear to have goalkeeper who can take them into the future, albeit an over-confidence in his own abilities left his team in some unnecessary tight spots against Arsenal.

But the youngster appears to have all the raw materials to make a top modern day goalkeeper. More mistakes like the one here at the Emirates however…
