Two police officers have appeared in court accused of pouring water over a child's head.

Claire Wallace and Mark Horwell face two charges each of assaulting or ill-treating or neglecting a young person/child on August 6 last year.

The pair were both in the dock at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.    

Wallace, 40, who works as a police officer with Northumbria Police, faces two charges which includes 'pouring water over [the youngster's] head on more than one occasion in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health'.
